GlitterPony in the City Reliquary

Just finished my first order of Rugs for The City Reliquary here in Williamsburg. They are remodeling this wonderful museum and reopening with a gift shop! These GlitterPony Doily Rugs will be part of the new collection. So exciting. Delivering them later today on my way to the clothing swap! I even baked inside out Smore brownies to enjoy, what a great day!

And I'm off to DC tomorrow for my boyfriends opening for Porch Projects DC!

I think these pieces with the plastic lacing incorporated are really special. I have since been working on some pieces that focus on the thread element and exploring designs in different color combinations. Some cool looking pieces . Pictures soon!

New Year, New Ideas, Need Follow Thru

Two weeks into the new year and I am feeling like I need to create.... something. Baking isn't really cutting it right now. I need to refocus my time and energy and get back on track. Too many distractions. I want this year to be about productivity and success.

One of my new year resolutions was to pick up and put away clothing everynight before bed so I can start with a fresh slate in the morning. I have been pretty good about this and it is helping me feel good about my space and my surroundings. I think my boyfriend appreciates it too.

After spending the whole month of December in Florida with family, and then returning immediatley to a full time position and commute, I have not quite settled back in yet.

So this is my promise to myself, the month of February will be my mulligan start to the new year. I will retrieve the supplies I have left waiting for me in Florida, and gather my things in New York... and get to it.

I have so many ideas, I just need to focus and follow through.

This post is meant to inspire me to action, I'll let you kno whow it works.

Wearables

I have this lonely looking basket of wearable pieces that I have completed over the Summer and haven't listed yet. My problem is photographing them. The mannequins and forms I have aren't in the best condition... or I made them look creepy because I have covered them in yarn circles and left it unfinished. Anyways, I came up with this great idea to invite some girlfriends over for a photoshoot party! I am gonna get some wine and candy and we can play with makeup and hair. I think it will be really fun and a great way to showcase these pieces.

I am really starting to understand how essential the photos you present are to communicating what your work is really like. Its an artform I really didnt give enough thought to until recently. Eye opening. I've always admired great photos and and I guess I never really stopped to think about what made them great photos.

I tried taking pictures of the head warmers and scarves and they just looks so flat and sad laying on a table, I wouldn't even want them! So wish me luck, hopefully after the spooky dust of halloween settles I can find some time to get my beautiful friends together for this photo shoot! Pictures to come soon!

Plastic Doilies!

One of the things I like most about creating doilies is the different textures and fabrics that result in completely unique pieces. Do you remember making lanyards and key chains as a kid using gimp, that plastic lace that comes in every color imaginable. Rexlace. Amazing!

I purchased a bunch of different colors and got to work.

I really like the color change pattern. I made up that pattern as I went and I think it came out pretty cool. I will take some more shots tomorrow.
